Mammoth Lakes – San Francisco
Third stage of the October 2014 loop, rental car throughout. From Mammoth Lakes we crossed Tioga Pass into Yosemite, barely making it before they closed the pass. Mariposa Grove and the giant sequoias, viewpoints overlooking Half Dome, and the base of El Capitan. Then three days in San Francisco: Alcatraz, the shoreline and piers, the Painted Ladies, Lombard Street, a cable car, Chinatown. Next we drove back toward LA along the sea.
