Lima
Amazing time at the capital. Wonderful restaurants, nightlife, and sightseeing — Larcomar on the cliffs, Huaca Pucllana in Miraflores, and Pachacámac just south of the city. I absolutely loved Lima, even if I found the historic center around the Plaza Mayor and cathedral quite run down. I have good friends in Peru and it was nice to get together again. Then we flew on to Cusco.

Cliff-top mall in Miraflores looking over the Pacific — shops, restaurants, and the evening air off the ocean. An easy walk from the hostel.

The colonial heart of Lima. Grand buildings around the square, but I found the center quite run down.

On the Plaza Mayor — impressive from the square. The streets around it felt worn compared with Miraflores.

A huge pre-Inca adobe pyramid sitting right in Miraflores. Strange and beautiful to have ruins this old in the middle of the neighbourhood.

The coastal sanctuary just south of the city, out on the desert hills. Much larger than the huaca in town.
